Below are the ingredients and the instructions on how to make Spanish Sardines Pasta.
Spanish sardines pasta is a light, delicious 30-minute meal that the whole family will love! And bonus, it’s healthy and so simple to make too!

While I thought it was impossible to add another favorite pasta recipe to my repertoire, I was proven wrong by this dish. This easy Spanish sardines pasta is now a favorite in our house and has been added to the “I must make this on a regular basis” dinner rotation. It’s light yet satisfying and the combination of flavors can’t be beat.
While my recipe calls for Spanish sardines, that’s not totally necessary. Spanish sardines can be a little tricky to find in your regular grocery store, so replacing them with a regular can or jar of regular sardines in oil is completely fine.
All of the other ingredients are easy to find and you probably have most of them in your pantry already.
Fun Fact: Sardines provide one of the highest levels of healthy omega-3’s, with 2 grams per 3-oz serving, and lowest levels of mercury – of any fish! They’re also great for your bone health too, with lots of calcium and vitamin D.

Ingredients
8 oz fettuccine
3.75-oz can of Spanish sardine fillets in oil (or regular sardine fillets in oil)
2 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 small red onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
4 oz grape or cherry tomatoes, halved
2 oz black olives, sliced
2 oz green olives with pimiento, sliced
2 teaspoon capers
1 tablespoon lemon juice
½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
½ c reserved pasta water
Freshly ground black pepper
Grated Parmesan cheese
Parsley for garnish

Spanish Sardines Pasta
Get all your ingredients chopped and ready because this delicious dish will be done in about 20 minutes.
Start by cooking the pasta as usual. Just before you drain it, reserve ½ c of the pasta water and set aside.
While the fettuccine is cooking, heat olive oil in a pan over low heat. Add onion and cook for 3 minutes or until it just starts to soften. Then, add garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute.

Add tomatoes, olives, capers, lemon juice, pepper flakes, and sardines (including the oil) and cook for 4 minutes. When adding the sardines, lightly break up the fillets with a fork. Next, add reserved pasta water and freshly ground black pepper to taste and cook for an additional 2 minutes.

Finally, add cooked fettuccine to the pan and toss in the sauce.

Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese and parsley, and serve with a nice crusty bread. Enjoy!
